An exciting Grand Prix
offering a chance for some relaxed tourism
on the Adriatic coast of Italy. The
parkland circuit is not far from Bologna
and its restaurants or Ravenna and its
Byzantine mosaics.
Imola held the Italian Grand
Prix in 1980, and when the race returned
to Monza the following year, the name of
the San Marino principality was adopted so
that Italy could have two Grands Prix.
After the sad deaths of Aryton Senna and
Roland Ratzenberger in 1994, new chicanes
were added but it still remains one of the
most challenging and atmospheric tracks on
the calendar.
